Economic Development Center (CDE) is a Romanian non-governmental and not for profit organization, dedicated to assist the development, investment, growth and success rate of private businesses.
The creation and improvement of a strong private sector represents one of the priorities of the Romanian economy since the inception of the market reforms in early 90s. CDE operates in this new environment opened to initiatives that may lead to alternative sources of finance, better legal and regulatory framework for small businesses.
The mission of the center is to promote the economic development of micro, small and medium sized enterprises, by providing entrepreneurs with one-stop source of business information, support (through training sessions and consultancy services) and financial products, in order to address the needs of an expanding market and to enhance the clients' ability to make profitable use of the economic activities they run.
The beneficiaries of the CDE programs are mainly entrepreneurs from rural areas, who:
- undergo an activity that generates income;
- are between 18 to 65 years old;
- prove the ability to develop and maintain a sustainable business;
At present, a national network of 11 offices CDE provides micro-credits in 18 counties, area to be extended soon to another 19 counties as follows: Bacau, Botosani, Iasi, Neamt, Suceava, Vaslui, Braila, Buzau, Constanta, Galati, Tulcea, Vrancea, Arges, Calarasi, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Prahova, Teleorman, Arad, Caras Severin, Hunedoara, Timis, Bihor, Bistrita Nasaud, Cluj, Maramures, Satu Mare, Salaj, Alba, Brasov, Covasna, Harghita, Mures, Sibiu, Ilfov, Bucharest.
